Lady Yellowjackets Move Over .500 Mark with Second Straight Win (Feb. 14, 2004)
Box Score

BILLINGS, MT – The Lady Yellowjackets’ big three scorers all had big games Saturday night as Montana State-Billings won its second game in a row, 73-57 over Converse College, to improve to 12-11.  Jenny Langford matched her career high with 21 points, sinking five 3-pointers, to lead all scorers.

MSU Billings maintained a modest lead for much of the first half as the All-Stars used strong offensive rebounding to keep the game close.  The Jackets built a 38-27 lead by the break and held its double-digit lead throughout the second half.  Converse was able to cut the lead to as close as 11 points behind second chance points and solid free throw shooting, but the MSUB offense was too much to handle.

Tanya Petersen and Robyn Milne combined for 34 points on the inside for the Yellowjackets.  Petersen followed her career-high 26 point outing on Friday with 18 points and seven boards on Saturday.  Milne added 16 points and six rebounds while blocking five shots.  She had eight blocked shots in the two games against Converse this weekend.  In the two wins over the All-Stars, Langford, Petersen and Milne combined for 106 of the Yellowjackets’ 164 total points (65 percent).

The All-Stars shot 80 percent from the free throw line, including 9 of 11 in the second half.  Melissa Bunce and Lauren Mueller each had double-doubles for Converse.  Bunce scored a team-high 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds.  Mueller finished with 14 and 11.

Freshman Shannon Harvey netted seven points for the Jackets, adding career highs with six assists and five rebounds.  Fellow freshman Jennifer Skrifvars finished with five boards and four assists.

The Yellowjackets play four games in seven days over the next two weeks to close out the season.  They host West Region rival Western New Mexico three times in Billings, playing on February 17, 19 and 20.  They finish with their sixth straight home game, hosting NAIA Northern Montana on February 23.
