Lady Jackets Treat Home Crowd with Offensive Show (Feb. 13, 2004)
Box Score

BILLINGS, MT – Playing in front of the home crowd for just the first time in almost a month—and only the third time since December 1—Montana State-Billings rang up its second highest point total of the season in a 91-67 victory over Converse College (SC).  The Yellowjackets evened their season record at 11-11 while dropping the All-Stars to 1-22.

Tanya Petersen’s career-high 26 points led the way for the Yellowjackets.  She scored 15 in the first half on 6 of 7 shooting from the field as the Jackets built a 45-28 lead by intermission.  For the game she hit 11 of 17 from the field and 3 of 4 from the free throw line.

Petersen scored four of the Jackets’ first six points as MSU Billings built a 6-2 lead to start the game.  Converse rallied with an 8-1 run to lead 10-7 at the 15:52 mark of the first half.  Jenny Auer’s 3-pointer on the next possession tied the game and the Yellowjackets didn’t trail again.

The Yellowjackets built their lead slowly over the next ten minutes, taking a double-digit lead on a Jennifer Skrifvars layup with 6:15 to play in the half.  After the All-Stars cut the lead to 36-28 with 2:49 left in the opening period, the Yellowjackets ran off nine unanswered points to finish the half.  Jenny Langford started the run with a 3-pointer, and Petersen scored the final four points of the half.

Petersen and Skrifvars scored the first two baskets of the second half to give the Yellowjackets a 21-point lead, and the All-Stars weren’t able to get any closer than 15 for the remainder of the game.

Junior Robyn Milne narrowly missed her fourteenth double-double of the season with 17 points and nine rebounds.  She also blocked three shots.  Lisa Jellum finished with a career-high 11 points and a game-high five assists.  Skrifvars and Langford also dished out five assists apiece.  Freshman Jessica Bratton added ten points off the bench, connecting of 5 of 7 from the field.

The All-Stars were led by Melissa Bunce’s 12 points.  Lauren Mueller notched a double-double with 11 points and ten boards, and Brandi Criscitiello added ten points.

The Jackets and All-Stars meet again on Saturday with tip off at 6:00 p.m.
