Yellowjackets Crush Green Mountain with Tenth Highest Scoring Night in School History (Jan. 17, 2004)
Box Score

BILLINGS, MT – Cameron Munoz dropped in nine 3-pointers and scored a season-high 32 points Saturday night as MSU Billings trounced Green Mountain College, 131-49.  It was the tenth highest single game point total in school history and the largest margin of victory.

The Yellowjackets started the game with a 9-0 run behind two 3-pointers from Munoz and another from Dave Carse.  Munoz was 4-of-4 from 3-point range in the first six and a half minutes of the game as MSU Billings built a 21-11 lead.  The Jackets made seven of their first ten attempts from the field during that stretch.

Munoz’s hot hand cooled and he finished 9-of-16 from 3-point range and 11-of-19 from the field.  One of those eleven field goals was the 6-foot-3 guard’s first dunk as a Yellowjacket, a two-handed reverse jam on a breakaway.

MSU Billings built a 58-20 lead by halftime, shooting 57.5 percent from the field while holding the Eagles to just 19.2 percent shooting.  Three Yellowjackets scored double figures in the first half, led by 15 from Jerett Skrifvars.  The senior captain also grabbed 12 first half rebounds to tie his career high.  He twisted his ankle late in the half and sat out the second half as a precaution.  Munoz netted 13 points in the first half, and Buddy Windy Boy added 12.  Windy Boy finished the game with career highs for points (21), rebounds (8) and assists (6).

The Yellowjackets’ hot shooting carried into the second half, where they shot 65 percent from the field.  They finished the game 49-of-80 from the field and 20-of-42 from beyond the arc.  The 20 three-pointers tied for the sixth most in school history.

Trae Fortier added 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting, increasing his PacWest leading scoring average to 22.7 points per game.  Carse added 20 points and a career-high 12 assists.  He made six 3-pointers on ten attempts and was 7-of-12 from the field.

The Yellowjackets have two days off before their conference home opener on Tuesday.  They will host Hawaii-Hilo on January 20 and 22, and Chaminade on January 24.  Hawaii-Hilo is currently tied for first place in the PacWest and was picked to win the conference in the preseason coaches’ poll.
