Yellowjacket Golfers Tee Up for Event in Washington (Mar. 21, 2004)

BILLINGS, MT - The MSU Billings men's and women's golf teams will each be in action for the second time this spring when they play Monday and Tuesday at the Northwest Intercollegiate Tournament in Blaine, Wash.  The tournament is a 36-hole match at the Semiahmoo Resort, with 18 holes being played on Monday and the second 18 on Tuesday.

The Yellowjacket men's team opened the season with a last place finish at the Cal State-Bakersfield Invitational at the end of February, but hasn't played since.  Head coach Roger Burckley says he expects a significant improvement from that tournament because warm weather in Billings has allowed the Jackets to play outdoors much more often.

The Lady Yellowjackets played their first event of the season on March 8-9 at the Subway Invitational in Chico, CA.  Elizabeth Marshall led the team with a 28th-place individual finish.

The Northwest Intercollegiate will feature a mix of NCAA, NAIA and junior college teams.  In addition to MSU Billings, Rocky Mountain College is scheduled to participate.
