No. 3 BYU-Hawaii Sweeps Yellowjackets (September 13, 2002)

LAIE, HI – The MSU Billings volleyball team had its first look at one of the nation’s best volleyball teams Friday night.  The Lady Jackets didn’t get to look long, however, as they were swept 3-0 in just an hour and fifteen minutes by No. 3 BYU-Hawaii in the Pacific West Conference opener for both teams.

BYU-Hawaii went on an early 13-2 run in game one and never look back, winning the match by scores of 30-12, 30-16, 30-19.

The Yellowjackets battled the Seasiders in game two, taking a 15-13 lead midway through the game.  BYU-Hawaii then went on a 9-1 run to pull away from the only threat of the night.

MSU Billings managed only a .081 attack percentage for the match, while BYU-Hawaii hit at a .349 clip.  The Jackets were led by senior Mandi Paulson’s seven kills.  Krissy Janney notched 20 assists and Joanna Peterson tallied nine digs.

MSU Billings will continue its Hawaii swing Saturday night when they face Chaminade University.  The will finish at Hawaii Pacific on Monday and Hawaii-Hilo on Tuesday.
