Dani Ruoff
Head Cheerleading Coach

 

Dani Ruoff is in her seventh year as the Yellowjacket cheer coach. Ruoff, a native of Shepherd, MT, came to MSU Billings from Ketchikan, Alaska, where she coached for two years at a class 4A high school (1995-97).

In 1990, while pursuing a mass communications degree at Eastern Montana College, Ruoff was a member of the Yellowjacket cheer team. Also in 1990, she was a member of the USA Spirit Squad in Honolulu and Hilo, Hawaii. In one of her many honors, she was invited to cheer for the Los Angeles Lakers in an exhibition game. Dani was on the Yellowjacket cheer team until 1993.

Ruoff graduated from MSU Billings with a degree in Mass Communications and Fundraising.

From 1993 to 1995, Ruoff was the coach of the Yellowjacket cheer team.  She was a member of the USA Spirit Squad and was in the Freedom Bowl in 1994. Coach Ruoff has attended COA, UCA, NCA, ICF and Power Cheerleading cheer camps. 

Some of her other duties with MSU Billings include organizing special events, marketing and media, and conducting cheerleading camps and clinics.  In 2003, she conducted the largest stunt camp in the state of Montana, bring in instructors from major universities around the country.  Just a year earlier, Ruoff's Yellowjacket Cheer Team became the first competition team in MSU Billings history when it won awards at a Cheerleaders of America (COA) competition in Irvine, CA.

Coach Ruoff has coached private cheer camps since 1990.  She always focuses on safety in all areas of cheerleading.  She also stays up-to-date on all MHSA guidelines and rules and maintains a current AACA certification.  With her experience and qualifications, Coach Ruoff has instructed cheer and pom dance at a dance studio in Billings.

Ruoff has also worked with the coordinator of the East/West Shrine Football Game in overseeing the cheerleaders who perform at the game.  She is currently a state representative for Cheerleaders of America for Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, North Dakota and South Dakota.

  • Cheered for five years at the collegiate level

  • Cheered for four years at Shepherd High School

  • Cheered for two years at Shepherd Junior High School

  • 2004 Cheerleaders of America West Region Champions, Irvine, California

  • 2004 Cheerleaders of America State Representative for MT, WY, ND, SD and ID

  • 1997-present: Head cheer coach at MSU Billings

  • 1996-97: Coached class 4A high school cheer squad in Alaska.  Team received a Superior rating at the Southeast Tournament in Ketchikan, Alaska

  • 1995-96: Coached class 4A high school cheer squad in Alaska.  Team received a Superior rating at the Southeast Tournament in Juneau, Alaska

  • 1993-95: Coached MSU Billings squad while it was still an organized student club
