Geology of the Beartooths
Explore the geological history and unique formations found in the Beartooth Mountains. General background on introductory geology will be given; this will be followed by field discussions to illustrate how the Beartooth Mountains were formed, with demonstrations of processes and products of geologic activity. TRANSPORTATION: to Red Lodge is not provided. Bus transportation for field trips from Red Lodge High School is provided for the class. Activity level is moderate must be able to hike over uneven terrain at high elevation for 2 miles.

Bones and Stones: Exploration Through Time – Intergenerational Adventure
Take your grandchild on a fun filled trip and step into an ancient adventure where amazing paleontological discoveries await! Fascinating finds near Cody Wyoming display exposed tracks and fossils that date back to the age of dinosaurs. A special location, Red Gulch Dinosaur Tracksite was discovered in May 1997 and contains literally thousands of rare dinosaur tracks embedded in oolitic limestone. Fun activities for grandkids and an evening at the Cody Rodeo and of course time to swim at the pool. Visit the Greybull Museum and the Buffalo Bill Historic Center. Spend time you’re your grandchild and connect to the exciting dino-mite places only a short drive away near Cody WY. Activity level is moderate must be able to hike over uneven terrain at high elevation for 2 miles.
Itinerary: Independent arrivals by 4:00 pm Cody WY, dinner and Cody Rodeo; Wednesday - motor coach to Red Gulch Dinosaur Tracksite, Greybull Museum and dig site. Thrusday - Buffalo Bill Historic Center, Program Ends after lunch. Independent departures after BBHC tour; approximately 1:00pm.
Accommodations: The Sunrise Motor Inn hosts a complimentary continental breakfast, outdoor swimming pool, hot tub and fitness facility. All meals included.

Books Your Grandkids are Reading
Read the books that your grandchildren might be reading---see and discuss the movies from some of these books. Each session will focus on one particular type of children’s and teen reading, from picture books through graphic novels. For some of these we will show a movie that afternoon from one of the chosen books – a chance to bring your grandchildren or other young folks, too. Book lists for each session will be provided and the MSU Billings librarians will each participate in discussions.

Introduction to Birding
Birding is a wonderful outdoor activity that provides a fun opportunity to explore your neighborhood. Enjoy walking through local parks with a birding expert who will introduce you to the techniques and skills of birding. Intended to help beginners and immediate birders with bird spotting and identification techniques. Bring binoculars if you have them.

Fly Fishing - “Empty Nest” or Retired
Fly Fishing for women is a wonderful introduction to important fly fishing skills that will make you more comfortable on local rivers and streams while catching wild trout! This class will not only teach you how to cast, but also how to tie various knots, how to find fish, how to catch and release fish, and the vital entomology and conservation behind the sport too. Billings is only a short drive away from some of Montana’s most beautiful fly fishing destinations and we encourage all women to take advantage of this great opportunity. If you have your own equipment please bring it with you. If you are just getting started and need to borrow please let us know when you call and register.
Instructor: Gayle Whittenberg, who was given the nickname the “trout whisperer” in Guide School, thoroughly enjoys teaching others the sport of fly fishing.
