Geology of the Beartooths
Explore the geological history and unique formations found in the Beartooth Mountains. General background on introductory geology will be given; this will be followed by field discussions to illustrate how the Beartooth Mountains were formed, with demonstrations of processes and products of geologic activity. A short classroom session will precede field discussions each day. A short classroom session will precede field discussions each day. A box lunch is provided both days. TRANSPORTATION: to Red Lodge is not provided. Bus transportation for field trips from Red Lodge High School is provided for the class. Activity level is moderate must be able to hike over uneven terrain at high elevation for 2 miles.
